Iris Eleanor Jenks

Our little Iris Eleanor Jenks was born on July 17 at 6:08 pm. She was 6 lbs 8 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. She's just perfect. We're both doing really well. I'm surprised at how much easier her labor was compared to Roman's. The two biggest factors were theat my epidural worked (hallelujah) and she was a whole 2 lbs smaller than Roman was. Here are a few pics of our sweet little girl. My Mom and my little sister, Cicily drove all the way from Powell to come help me. It's been sooo nice to have them here. Little Iree (yes, I'm already calling her Iree for short) was born on my mom's birthday. Jason and I decided that since she was born on my mom's b-day then that's our tribute to my mom, so we gave her the middle name of Eleanor so that's our tribute to Jason's mom. Anyway, we bought a little birthday cake for my mom and ate it in the hospital.

This is the most recent picture i took of Iris. She looks a lot like Roman did when he was born. She actually has a lot less hair than Roman did, but her face is really similar. We're all so happy to have our sweet little Iris in our family. Roman wasn't sure about her at first, but now he loves her. He likes to pat her and say "pretty." He'll be a good big brother to her. She has such a sweet little disposition. I hope she stays that way forever.

Welcome Iree! She is so sweet and pretty. I can't wait to hold her. Tell her I will be there soon! I am glad everything went well and that Roman is already adjusting. It won't be long before he doesn't remember life without her.

I'm so happy that pregnancy is over for you! Iris is a doll. I love that she has her knitted hat on. I almost, almost knocked on your room at the hospital (I was visiting Toby and Rosalie) because I was dying to hear the details. I didn't want to bug you so soon after having her so instead I stalked the hospital website. But I ran in to Amber and she told me all about it so I didn't have to do that for very long. Man, I think I sound like a stalker right now. Oh well, :). Congrats again and have fun with your family while they are here. Can't wait to see more of Iree when you get the time.

Yea! Today Kirk and I looked for something with Iris on it at a couple ‘baby’ places in Portland and one woman at a boutique said..."I'm not sure what an Iris looks like..." I was incredulous!!? Was this woman born in a cave? I love Iris! I love the name! LOVE it! Love it! Love it! Good job Bethany! Congratulations! I may have to sew something with an Iris on it...we'll see...seriously though I'm so happy for you guys! =)

Iree for short that's funny, because it actually has more letters than her real name. hehe. Anyways, Stephen says she's a pretty baby and that he's glad that she doesn't look anything like Jason. Congrats and we are so happy for you! She is such a keeper.

I was going to say something similar to Korbi, about "Iree" not being any shorter than "Iris".
Too funny!
Anywho, she is adorable, and I hope I get to see her before ya'll take off to another ward!

Yay! We're so excited that she is here. Great hat by the way. Roman is adorable, I love love that he pats her and says: "pretty".
Collin wanted me to pass along his support by saying that you have no excuse for not coming to Powell because you just had a baby. Nice right?
One of the girls I visit teach in our ward had a c-section last Friday and was back at work teaching 5th graders summer school 4 days later! I only have one word for this CRAZY! Anyway, so of course after hearing this C came to the conclusion that if she can work 4 days after surgery you can come to Powell...don't worry i've already set him straight for you.
We love you guys, she is beautiful!
